Governance and Statutory Compliance

Leone Alberts & Duus is experienced in litigating cases concerning public entity governance and statutory compliance.  Our attorneys represent public entities in contractual disputes arising out of real property transactions, public construction projects and developer fee agreements, and in claims brought under statutes such as the False Claims Act, the Public Records Act, the Elections Code and the Ralph M. Brown Act.

Given our experience, we understand that as public entities our clients have more at risk in litigation than the basic cost versus risk analysis facing private entities. When a public entity is sued, it faces policy and political concerns that must be considered in deciding whether to aggressively pursue litigation to trial. We believe in working with our clients to develop case strategies at the outset of the litigation that provide them the best possible outcome, whether that be through trial, motion practice or settlement.
