John P. Laughlin III is an accomplished attorney and former educator who brings a distinctive blend of litigation experience, public service, and educational leadership to his legal practice. He has represented clients in a broad range of civil matters, including public entity defense, police civil liability, transportation-related claims, nonprofit litigation, and California wildfire cases.
John earned his J.D. from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law, where he competed in national moot court competitions focused on criminal procedure and federal law. He holds dual undergraduate degrees in Economics and United States History from Santa Clara University, where he captained the NCAA Division I cross country and track and field teams.
Before entering the legal field, John taught AP Calculus and Algebra in San Francisco’s Bayview–Hunters Point neighborhood, where he also served as Mathematics Department Chair. He earned his teaching credential through Loyola Marymount University in partnership with Teach for America.
He is a member of the California State Bar and holds a California Clear Credential in Single Subject Mathematics.
